YMYD Secures Funding from Samsung Fire to Advance AI Drug Risk Solutions

South Korean startup YMYD, which specializes in developing AI solutions for pharmaceuticals, announced on the 14th that it has secured Pre-Series A funding from Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance. The investment amount was not disclosed.

The funding was made possible through the “Unicorn Bridge with Samsung Fire & Marine” program, jointly operated by Samsung Fire & Marine and the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (Gyeonggi CCEI). With this investment, YMYD will accelerate the development of its AI-powered drug risk assessment and management service for seniors and elderly populations. YMYD is currently based at the Pangyo Startup Campus, which is supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and jointly operated by the Korea Institute of Startup &

Entrepreneurship Development and Gyeonggi CCEI. Founded in 2020, YMYD operates a pharmacist-exclusive knowledge-sharing platform used by more than 33,000 pharmacists—representing over 65% of all licensed pharmacists in Korea. The company’s AI-driven polypharmacy review solution has been recognized for its technological excellence, cutting pharmacist review time to under five minutes—a reduction of over 95% compared to traditional methods.

This investment comes at a critical time, as Korea approaches a super-aged society, with the population aged 65 and older expected to exceed 20% by 2025. With more than 1.36 million patients already taking 10 or more medications, YMYD’s AI-based drug risk management service is poised to become the first of its kind in the insurance industry.
Jo Jung-rae, CEO of YMYD, stated, “By combining YMYD’s extensive pharmacist network and clinical data with Samsung Fire & Marine’s healthcare expertise, we aim to dramatically improve medication safety for the elderly. Through AI technology, we will offer more accurate and efficient drug management services, and drive innovation across the insurance and healthcare sectors.”
