SOYFT BIOME, a Korean foodtech startup specializing in upcycled soy fermentation byproducts, has raised an undisclosed round of funding from MYSC through its ExtraMile Lycon Fund.

The company transforms byproducts generated during soy fermentation into functional protein ingredients, using them to develop plant-based cream and sauce formulations. Its portfolio includes KETOYOU, a high-protein plant-based food brand featuring tempeh and similar products, and JA:YU, a low-sugar, plant-based condensed milk alternative launched in 2025. JA:YU has already secured distribution across major retail channels including Coupang Rocket Fresh, Olive Young, Baemin B-mart, and department stores, validating early product-market fit.
At the core of SOYFT BIOME’s technology is AquaProtein, a proprietary protein ingredient derived from fermentation byproducts, paired with a unique emulsification design that replicates the taste and texture of dairy while keeping products low in sugar and fully plant-based.
The company plans to use the new capital to sharpen the competitiveness of its plant-based cream and sauce lineup while scaling distribution. Near-term priorities include expanding B2B supply to café and bakery franchises and deepening its presence in the low-sugar, plant-based food segment. Looking further ahead, SOYFT BIOME is targeting adjacent high-value markets including cosmetics and medical nutrition.
SOYFT BIOME has also been selected for the 2026 EMA AGRIFOOD program — the 2026 Agricultural and Food Technology Startup Accelerator Support Program — organized by MYSC and overseen by the Korea Institute of Agriculture Technology Promotion under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Through the program, the company will receive support for business model refinement and global market validation.
“This investment will allow us to strengthen both our product competitiveness and production infrastructure, and to bring healthy plant-based alternatives to more consumers and business customers,” said Seoyeon Yoon, CEO of SOYFT BIOME. “We’re building toward becoming a technology platform company that goes beyond food — expanding into diverse industries on the foundation of a sustainable food system.”
