Maritime cybersecurity specialist CYTUR has secured KRW 5.2 billion (approximately $3.7 million) in Series A funding. The round was led by Sunbo Angel Partners, with participation from STIC Ventures and Jones&Rocket Investment.

CYTUR specializes in maritime cybersecurity, offering technology that spans cyber risk analysis, threat modeling, asset identification, security validation, and regulatory compliance documentation across a vessel’s entire lifecycle—from design and construction through operation. In partnership with Rakuten Maritime, the company has secured cybersecurity contracts covering dozens of merchant vessels operated by global shipping lines. CYTUR also provides compliance services for international ship cybersecurity standards, including IACS UR E26 and E27.
On the recognition front, CYTUR has been designated a 2026 Excellent Information Protection Technology Product by Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). The startup was also selected for the two agencies’ program to nurture information security unicorns. At a maritime cybersecurity summit held in Florida, CYTUR raised its global profile by presenting case studies on vessel cyber threat modeling and response strategies.
The fresh capital will be deployed to recruit specialists in maritime and defense cybersecurity, advance CYTUR’s vessel cyber threat modeling and security validation platforms, expand into naval vessel MRO and defense cybersecurity markets, and establish a presence in overseas shipbuilding and marine sectors across the United States, Japan, and Singapore.
CEO Yonghyun Cho said CYTUR aims to aggressively pursue business opportunities in naval MRO, defense cybersecurity, and shipbuilding markets across the United States, Singapore, and Europe, with the goal of becoming Asia‘s leading maritime cybersecurity firm.
The broader security sector remains a magnet for capital. Wowtale‘s 2026 cybersecurity startup landscape maps how AI is reshaping the field across areas ranging from agentic SOC and threat detection to identity and OT security.
