FromD Secures New Investment For Expanding Industrial Safety AI Engine Into Construction and Semiconductor Sites

FromD, a Korean startup developing the industrial safety AI judgment engine VIRKEYD, has secured investment from the CNT Tech-DB DreamBig investment partnership, a fund jointly formed by CNT Tech and DB Capital, the new technology business financing arm of DB Group.

Founded in 2024, FromD develops and operates VIRKEYD, an industrial safety AI judgment engine that comprehensively analyzes process data, working conditions, equipment information, and safety regulations to predict on-site risks and recommend responses.

VIRKEYD evaluates site conditions by cross-referencing processes, work environment, equipment, and safety regulation data, and automates core safety management tasks such as risk assessments, Tool Box Meetings (TBM), and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) using AI.

The platform’s core functions link its risk assessments to downstream safety management work, including incident report drafting, corrective and preventive action (CAPA) planning, work control, assignment of responsible personnel, and evidence management. It also runs risk assessments, TBM, and JSA processes directly, storing every judgment and follow-up action as data that feeds back into future assessments while supporting incident investigations, audits, and supply chain due diligence. A key feature of VIRKEYD is that it applies context-specific judgment criteria even for identical risk signals, weighing the particular process, equipment, working conditions, and applicable safety regulations at play in each case.

FromD has run pilots and field projects across construction, semiconductors, power generation, and food manufacturing. The company has completed proof-of-concept projects with large corporations and public institutions including CJ Logistics and Korea Midland Power, and is expanding its footprint among small and mid-sized manufacturers such as ThinkSoft and Hanshin Korea by supplying its industrial safety AI service.

FromD has also been selected for major technology development and commercialization programs, including the Kibo Venture Camp, the On-device AI Challenge, the K-Startup Challenge, the Youth Startup Academy, a digital-based SME manufacturing industrial accident prevention technology development program, KOICA’s CTS program, and a KEPCO energy startup program, continuing to refine its product and expand its market reach.

With this investment, FromD plans to keep expanding its process and safety regulation datasets across industries and upgrade its AI judgment engine, while extending VIRKEYD’s reach into high-risk sectors such as construction and semiconductors. The company also intends to deepen integration with existing industrial systems, including equipment, CCTV, and ERP platforms, to further advance its AI service in the industrial safety space.

“Demand for AI-driven decision-making and task automation is rapidly expanding in industrial safety as well,” said Hyun-soon Choi, division head at CNT Tech. “FromD has carried out field validation across a range of industrial sites using AI technology that reflects both process and safety regulations, and we see strong potential for it to expand beyond industrial safety into the broader industrial compliance space.”

Seok-min Kang, team leader at DB Capital, said, “Solving industrial safety problems requires a systematic, structured approach to analyzing the wide range of risk factor data found on-site. We expect strong future growth from FromD as a safety management platform company with the potential to expand across the board.”
