NUUA raises $10M to expand AI-powered travel tech and global market presence

Korean traveltech startup NUUA has raised approximately $10 million (KRW 13 billion) in Series A funding from investors including Shinhan Venture Investment, Woori Financial Group, Kiwoom Investment, Capstone Partners, IBK, KB Securities, CYRUS Venture Investment, and SBA.

Building on its certification in next-generation aviation distribution technology from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and multiple wins at the Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, NUUA developed NUUA Office. This advanced aviation back-office system integrates AI technologies to automate processes like ticket cancellations and refunds, while also managing services such as seat selection, in-flight meals, and Wi-Fi.

In April, NUUA launched “Woori WON Travel,” an airline and hotel booking platform in partnership with Woori Card. The company continues to expand its collaboration with small and medium-sized travel agencies, leveraging its proprietary airline ticket distribution software.

NUUA is also accelerating its global expansion. Recognized as a leading global tourism company by the Korea Tourism Organization in 2021, it has established a subsidiary in Singapore and a local office in Tokyo, Japan. It is actively targeting the Asian market by launching NUUA Office as a SaaS solution for travel agencies worldwide.

Park Gun-ho, Director at Shinhan Venture Investment, commended NUUA’s innovative technology and back-office solutions, noting its ease of adoption for travel agencies and potential to revitalize distribution channels. He added, “NUUA will play a pivotal role in the global travel tech market beyond Korea.”

CEO Seo Deok-jin remarked, “This funding provides an opportunity to enhance our AI-driven services and deepen partnerships with both domestic and international travel agencies and airlines. NUUA aims to grow into a trusted global partner in the travel tech industry, driven by data and technology.”
