South Korean AI startup HyprNote has been selected for Y Combinator‘s Summer 2025 (S25) batch, securing follow-on investment after its initial backing by Krew Capital. The company’s innovative on-device AI-powered meeting notes technology has drawn attention for its privacy-focused approach.
HyprNote develops a secure AI meeting notes application that integrates real-time voice transcription, summarization, and task management within a familiar notepad-style interface. Uniquely, all AI inference—including speech-to-text—is executed entirely on the user’s device, with no data transmission to the cloud. The application is also open-sourced, enabling corporate security and compliance teams to fully audit and customize it within their internal environments.
The company’s proprietary small language model (SLM) runs efficiently on laptop CPUs or NPUs without requiring server-grade GPUs. This ensures robust performance even in air-gapped or overseas travel scenarios. HyprNote is already serving initial clients in security-sensitive industries such as investment banking, healthcare, law, and consulting, where it continues to enhance its voice indexing and summarization features to meet strict security standards.
Y Combinator, the world-renowned accelerator that helped launch global tech giants like Airbnb, Dropbox, and Coinbase, has previously backed notable Korean startups such as Sendbird, Markbase (Markvision), and Miso. HyprNote aims to leverage the YC network to expand into North American and European markets, optimize its on-device AI models, and nurture its open-source community.
“Our technology is designed for environments where cloud-based meeting notes are not an option,” said Jiheon Jung, CEO of HyprNote. “By keeping all AI inference local to the device and offering open-source transparency, we empower enterprises to securely validate and adopt our solution. We’re committed to becoming the industry standard for professionals handling sensitive data.”
HyprNote’s first investor, Krew Capital, is a VC firm focused on campus entrepreneurs in Korea and the U.S. Following the successful YC selections of Weeble (S24) and Pickle (W25), HyprNote marks its third consecutive portfolio company to enter YC. Krew Capital will actively support HyprNote’s global enterprise expansion through its U.S.-based customer and investor network.
