Reasoning AI Agent Developer ‘Turing’ Raises USD 5.3M Series B

Turing, a developer of reasoning AI agents for student workflows, has raised 7 billion won (approximately USD 5.3 million) in Series B funding.

The round was led by new investors Korea Development Bank, Kingo Investment Partners, Company K Partners, with existing investor Kolon Investment participating in the follow-on round.

Investors cited the rapid growth and global expansion potential of Turing’s GPAI, an AI agent designed specifically for university student workflows. GPAI has surpassed 1.5 million registered users within one year of launch and is now used at 415 universities in the United States, including MIT, Stanford, and Harvard.

Turing operates GPAI based on approximately eight years of accumulated reasoning AI technology. The platform combines complex problem-solving reasoning capabilities, a proprietary image engine for visualization, and AI-native document processing technology to deliver outputs needed across the university experience—from lecture comprehension and assignment preparation to exam study and team projects. The company is experiencing rapid growth with Korea and the United States as its primary markets.

Turing’s technical capabilities have been validated by the academic community, including the acceptance of a paper in the Industry Track of EMNLP 2025, one of the world’s leading natural language processing conferences. As generative AI becomes an essential learning tool on university campuses, GPAI’s high potential stems from its specialization in academic workflows for university students, unlike general-purpose AI tools.

With this funding, Turing will expand beyond its existing focus on science and engineering students to serve all university students worldwide, regardless of major. As a first step, the company has made all previously paid features fully free to coincide with the start of the academic year at major universities. Features supporting the entire academic process—from lecture material summarization to assignment completion, exam preparation, and presentation development—are now freely accessible to all users.

With this investment, Turing plans to execute an aggressive growth strategy to establish GPAI as the essential AI app for university students globally. The company will rapidly release features supporting students’ academic work and AI usage workflows while significantly expanding its user base. Turing also intends to broaden partnerships with universities and research institutions to build a reference portfolio in the B2B and B2G sectors.
