WeAid Raises Pre-Series A to Automate Dental Insurance Claims With sLLM Tech

WeAid, a Korean insurtech and digital healthcare startup behind the AI-powered dental insurance claim automation service Boum, has raised a pre-Series A round from New Paradigm Investment. The company runs Boum, an AI and sLLM-based dental insurance claim automation solution, and disclosed the pre-Series A investment on July 13. The amount was undisclosed.

WeAid Raises Pre-Series A to Automate Dental Insurance Claims With sLLM Tech

New Paradigm Investment said it backed WeAid for its potential to resolve structural inefficiencies in the dental insurance claim market and build infrastructure that connects medical and insurance data.

What WeAid Does

WeAid is an insurtech and digital healthcare company that operates Boum, a claim automation solution linking medical institutions, patients, and insurers, with dental clinics as its first entry point. Boum combines a B2B subscription software for clinics that automates claim-support administration, a mobile app that lets patients file claims directly, and a data API that feeds standardized data into insurers’ review processes.

The service supports a single flow from pre-treatment coverage guidance to automated post-treatment claims, and it aims to sharply reduce the administrative burden on clinics and maximize patient convenience—particularly in the dental market, where non-covered treatments account for a large share of care.

The company’s edge lies in its independence from any single electronic medical record (EMR) system. WeAid’s core competitiveness is its “EMR FREE” technology, which is not tied to a specific EMR, and a dental-specialized small language model (sLLM). The sLLM automatically converts unstructured clinical records entered by medical staff into standardized data, so it works identically in any EMR environment. This creates a virtuous cycle in which patients file claims quickly without complex paperwork, clinics dramatically cut their claim and administrative burden, and insurers secure transparent, verified data. The company has secured multiple patents on the underlying core technology.

A Large but Underserved Market

Dental insurance is one of Korea’s largest single coverage categories, yet claims often go unfiled. Because of complex and inefficient claim procedures, a significant number of policyholders give up on filing legitimate claims. According to the Korea Consumer Agency, about 37.5% of dental insurance subscribers have given up filing a claim, an average of six to nine document types are needed per claim, and processing takes roughly 13 days. Dental clinics have very high claim demand due to their large share of non-covered treatments, but they still rely heavily on handwritten charts, leaving unmet demand for claim and administrative automation.

Regulatory tailwinds are lining up as well. The market environment is turning favorable for WeAid, as the government’s digitization of indemnity insurance claims expanded from hospital-level institutions in 2024 to clinics and pharmacies in 2025, and the opening of medical MyData is rapidly increasing demand for digital claim infrastructure.

Traction has been fast. WeAid targeted this unmet demand and, within five months of its full service launch, deployed its solution at more than 215 dental clinics nationwide.

Backer and Next Steps

New Paradigm highlighted WeAid as a rare team that integrates clinics, patients, and insurers into a single data flow and covers everything from the point of treatment to the claim. The firm said it plans to actively support WeAid’s leap into a medical-insurance data infrastructure company through TIPS linkage, follow-on fundraising, and strategic partnerships.

With the new capital, WeAid intends to accelerate product development and talent hiring. The company plans to focus on advancing its sLLM AI technology and recruiting core development talent, while formally pursuing data API integration with established insurers. Ultimately, the company aims to grow beyond a claim-automation player into a company that leads medical-insurance data innovation.
